Flipkart, the online retailer which has been struggling with the slowdown in the Indian economy and high unemployment, is reportedly planning to hire thousands of workers for its new website.
The job vacancies on Flipkarte’s website are currently limited to developers who will have to code a site from scratch, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The company will need to hire people from various disciplines to help with the website’s development.
While it’s not clear how many people Flipkarta will need, the report claims that it could employ up to 10,000 developers.
According to Bloomberg, Flipkarts website development team will include at least six developers, including a software developer and a designer.
The news comes as Flipkars website struggles to cope with the slow pace of growth in India, with the economy contracting by more than 7.5% in the second quarter of this year.
The online retailer is currently struggling to attract users and users are flocking to its cheaper price tags.
The latest jobs report also indicates that Flipkara’s new website will feature a search function, and it could also be home to a number of advertisements.
In the first quarter of 2018, Flipkaras website saw a 1.5 million page views per day, which was down from a peak of 2.5-3.5million in the first three months of 2018.
It is also expected that the new website could help Flipkaras expand into India, although the company is yet to reveal the details of its plans.
